2. Writing & Language (35 min; 44 questions)
3. Math (No Calculator) (25 min; 20 questions)
4. Math (Calculator) (55 min; 38 questions)
5. Optional Essay (50 min; analyzes a provided passage)

Scoring

Section scores: 200–800 each for Evidence-Based Reading & Writing (EBRW) and Math

Total score: 400–1600

Essay: Reported separately on a 2–8 scale in three dimensions (Reading, Analysis, Writing)

Purpose

Measures academic achievement in English, reading, math, and science reasoning, plus an optional writing test.

Format & Timing

Total time: 2 hours 55 min (+ 40 min optional Writing)

Sections (all multiple-choice):
1. English (45 min; 75 questions)
2. Math (60 min; 60 questions)
3. Reading (35 min; 40 questions)
4. Science (35 min; 40 questions)
5. Optional Writing (40 min; one essay prompt)

Scoring

Section scores: 1–36 each for English, Math, Reading, Science

Composite score: Average of the four section scores (1–36)

Writing: Scored 2–12 (reported separately; combines two readers’ scores)
